Position Announcement: Peer Mediation Coordinator

Note: hiring for this position is contingent on a background check required by the school district and final contract stipulations, also by the school.
The Schenectady Middle School Peer Mediation Coordinators, under the supervision of the Mediation Matters Sr. Peer Mediation Coordinator, will be responsible for helping to coordinate the Mediation Matters Peer Mediation Program at the three Schenectady Middle Schools.
THERE ARE 2 POSITIONS OPEN AND THEY WILL COVER THE THREE MIDDLE SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT.
Mediation Matters, Inc. was founded in 1979 as a non-profit, community-based organization to provide the skills and processes that help people handle conflict in a constructive way. The Center specializes in providing mediation and conflict resolution skills, training and consulting. Offices are located in Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, and Glens Falls, NY.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to: managing program protocols for the program; creating and managing the roster of peer mediators; case coordination; mentoring mediators; once trained, conducting mediations and later restorative circles, as needed; entering cases into the database; relationship building within the Middle School Teachers and Administrators; monitoring and addressing caseload; some administrative functions; and other duties as needed. Some travel to the other schools in the district and periodic travel to the Albany or Saratoga office will be needed.
Qualifications: Associates Degree or equivalent experience, computer literacy, good written and oral communication skills, good humor, creativity and flexibility.
Salary and Hours: This is a full time position during the school year and a part time position in the summer months. Mediation Matters contributes to basic individual healthcare coverage and a generous leave package is available.
