We are a multi-faceted organization of volunteers and professionals dedicated to the management and resolution of conflict. While our primary focus is on the mediation of disputes, we also offer a broad range of related services.

Most of our services are provided by volunteers who come
from a variety of backgrounds. All mediators complete at least
30 hours of basic mediation training, fulfill a supervised apprenticeship
requirement, and are required to participate in continuing education
related to mediation. Many mediators complete additional training
that permits them to work in such specialized areas as child
custody mediation and conflicts involving parents and their
children. Some volunteers also have received training that permits
them to serve as arbitrators in certain situations and to aid
in the Court Appointed Special Assistant (CASA) programs
found in some Family Courts.

We receive funding from several sources, permitting us to provide most of our services at no cost and other services for a nominal fee. Our primary funding comes from the United Way and the New York State Unified Court System.

We are part of the Community Dispute Resolution Centers Program that provides services throughout the State under the auspices of the New York State Unified Court System's Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution Programs. We also are a member of the New York State Dispute Resolution Association, Inc. (NYSDRA).
